Navigating Licensing Changes Together

As we transition beyond the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, we want you to know we are here to help.

During the pandemic, temporary waivers allowed medical providers to extend their patient care across state lines without obtaining additional licenses in that state. While these waivers played a crucial role in patient care during the pandemic, they have since been lifted. The American Medical Association recently addressed state licensing topics in this article: **AMA issue brief: Telehealth licensure** Requiring licensure in the state where the patient is located enables states to ensure that health professionals adhere to that state’s laws and regulations.

We recognize the complexity this presents for providers and pharmacies striving to meet licensing requirements. For this reason, various stakeholders and states are actively exploring innovative approaches to licensure flexibility, specifically tailored for telemedicine consultations and prescribing. TMC will continue to monitor state and federal licensing requirements and will communicate any changes or new developments.

In the meantime, we encourage you to update your account to reflect your active medical licenses. To ensure seamless service delivery, it is important to maintain an active license in all states where your patients reside and their medications are shipped.

New USP Standards and Guidelines Update

In compliance with new USP Beyond Use Date (BUD) limitations, Tailor Made Compounding has developed a phased approach to implement new USP BUD guidelines for all compounded sterile preparations. These updated guidelines set BUD allowances between 60 and 120 days, depending on the product.

The first compounded sterile preparation updated to the new USP BUD requirements is Pentosan Polysulfate Sodium 250mg/mL 5mL injectable. The maximum BUD is now 60 days for batches compounded after 3/31/2024. Please adjust prescribing protocols and inform patients accordingly.

Be on the lookout for future updates on other sterile products!
